A Must Read For Parents.

I recently watched a Chinese documentary titled 'Please vote for me' on British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC).It is about the political process of selecting the class monitor in an  elementary school between children in the  ages of 10-12 years. Parents can gain insights from this program on ways to train their children to be confident and take up leadership positions.

It was very interesting to see  the democratic process in this Chinese elementary school.In this particular class there was intense politicking by the prospective monitors to gain votes.It was impressive to see how these children could engage their peers in a political way.There was three students seeking for one monitor position.They went to each member of their class soliciting for their votes. Responses was both positive and negative.It was most interesting to hear their reasons for supporting or to be against  a particular candidate.

There were times they wanted to give up.Parents and teachers were  involved in encouraging and motivating the students.They had politicians as role models who had achieved  great strides in Chinese politics. A parent advised her son not to give up despite some of his classmate saying they wouldn't  vote for him.She named one of the political giants in China told her son that he never gave up  despite the challenges he had,so he must not give up.These children went through all the tough mental trainings.

Their parents helped them to create expected winning speeches.Before the election day,these children rehearsed and practised their speeches before their parents.A particular parent instructed her child on the type of tone to use when making his speech.They were also told by their parents to take a bow at the end of their speech.

On the D-Day,a winner emerged.The contestants shook hands and embraced each other after the winner was  announced.Although there was tears from those that did not win.I must say here that they were worthy opponents.With this kind of training they have been exposed to-These are tomorrow leaders,win or not.
