Ten Ways To Raise Respectful Children

Raising your child to be respectful entails training your children to become good ambassadors of the family and the larger community.Respectful children are a parent’s special gift to the society. Respectful children don’t just come by; they are groomed from home by their parents. It takes patience, firmness, dedication and consistency to raise respectful children.

If you want to raise respectful children, then you should do the following:

Teach your child the art of being respectful:

This is something that flows from the parents to the children. Children learn by emulation, if you are a respectful parent, your child will definitely copy the art from you. Your child will know when to talk and when to listen; the art of greeting and how to say, “Thank you” in appreciation.

Polite even when heated up:

It takes discipline to still be polite when wronged or heated up. This is what you have to teach your child… to be polite. It is by learning to be cautious.

The art of honesty:

The real test of honesty is when you are confronted with “the real thing” but you can teach your child to be honest; don’t steal, don’t tell lies etc.

Sound judgment:

Children can learn from youth what sound judgment is. If you start to teach them at that youthful age, they will grow up to be able to discern what is good and what is bad.

Moral values:

Moral values cut across different spheres of life, but two most common ones you just have to teach your children is to desist from, stealing and falsehood.

Integrity:

Let your child know that he has the family name to protect. Teach your child to be honest even when the situation is very tempting.

Being responsible

If your child is not responsible, society will point fingers at you. Teach your child how to conduct himself properly when he is in the midst of others. Proper dressing and even being organized are linked to being responsible.

Leadership skills:

Every child has leadership skills but it takes nurturing to bring them to the limelight. Teach your child the art, let him learn to take responsibility or own up in the case of negative eventualities.

Humility:

Humility is not in nature, it is taught, teach your child. They say pride goes before a fall.

The fear of God:

Teaching your child about the ways of God will lead to reverential fear of God resulting in a wholesome fear of displeasing him.Your child thinks about the consequence of his action and does things that only aligns with God's word.
