Seven Skills You Should Teach Your Child

 As parents, we need to train our children to be independent and also to be able to at least attempt to make their way out or save themselves if they should find themselves in an odd situation. Life skills to teach a child is dependent on the environment, culture and the age of the child etc. Add these life skills to the ones you already know, and teach your child accordingly. 

Personal hygiene

Health they say is wealth, that’s why personal hygiene takes the leading position as one of the life skills you should teach your child.

How to dress a bed

Where you sleep and wake up is very important. Teach your child how to dress his or her bed at night and in the morning when they wake up from sleep.

How to use cutlery

Another very important skill to teach your child concerning social habit is how to use cutlery. 

 First aid

A child should know how to administer first aid to himself or to another person. It is one skill that you should teach your child. 

Financial and Time management 

A child should be taught how to budget,save and invest from a tender age.You can start from as early as three years with a piggy and then move to other areas.Speak in a languages that he or she will understand.When a child understands the importance of time she becomes more effective and efficient in carrying out her daily activities which can lead to a happier and successful adulthood.

How to use simple tools

Even as every home should have basic tools like: hammer, saw, shovel, spade screw drivers, pliers etc. a child should also be taught how to use these basic tools. 

Simple repairs and fittings

It is important a child has the knowledge of how to handle simple or basic repairs and fittings like replacing a burnt electric bulb, fixing the sink tap etc. Teach the child as one basic skill to acquire. 

Other basic skills include;cooking,planting a seedling,sewing,doing the laundry, swimming,riding a bicycle, learning one musical instrument,cleaning(sweeping, mopping etc),washing the car amongst others.

A child knowledgeable in basic life skills already has high intelligence; such a child can rise up to any occasion.
