Natural Ways to Improve your Fertility

 Many couples go through infertility issues which could be primary or secondary. Different reasons are responsible for these challenges in men and women. Lifestyle and poor diet has been identified as a general issue that causes infertility in both men and women. These natural methods can help improve your fertility. 

1. Eat fruits,seeds and nuts rich in antioxidants 

Fruits, nuts and vegetables etc. are high in oxidants; they contain a lot of Vitamin C, E, Beta carotene, folate and zinc and they are readily available. Oxidants have been known to inhibit sperm and egg damage caused by free radicals; studies show that folate and zinc boosts both male and female fertility.Seeds such as chia seeds, sunflower and hemp seeds are great for fertility.Nuts such as peanuts,cashew nuts and almonds are superb.Fruits such as banana,orange, strawberry,avocado and black berry are great fertility fruits.Yes,they contain sugar but our bodies need sugar and natural sugars from fruits are best.You can add these fruits to your breakfast or have them as snacks.Watermelon contains lycopene and this nutrient improves sperm count and morphology(ie size and shape of the sperm).


2.Eat balanced diet. It is very important to feed your body with nutritious meals and not junk.Some of the nutrients you should ensure to get through your diet are iodine(iodine rich foods are bread made with iodized salt,diary products,eggs,prawns,prunes,cod etc),omega 3 foods(walnut, chia seeds, salmons,tuna,sadines,hemp and flax seeds etc),olive oil(extra virgin oil),Whole grains(pasta,oats,brown rice, etc).Eat foods rich in zinc,vitamin D,B complexes and folate.


3.Less refined carbs Research has shown that a healthy weight is necessary for fertility, indulging in carb rich diets; especially refined carbs has the tendency of increasing your weight and the level of insulin and testosterone which are known to reduce fertility levels.


4. Cut down on trans-fats

Apart from the risk of infertility, trans-fats have been identified as the major cause of different health challenges including heart disease. Take more of healthy fats, apart from its health benefits, healthy fats also boost fertility levels.Also reduce the intake of processed meat such as sausages and deep fried foods. 


5.A little workout everyday

Workout is not just an activity geared towards burning fat.Everyone should engage in regular exercise to keep fit. Exercise has different health benefits, apart from keeping you fit; it also helps increase your level of fertility.In addition,focus on your physical and mental well-being,better sleep patterns and avoid stress.


6. Stay away from caffeine 

Research has shown that caffeine has a way of drastically reducing fertility levels especially in women. Caffeine has also been associated with miscarriages. 


7.Cut down on alcohol and smoking

High level of alcohol intake has been associated with different ailments: diabetes, hypertension, liver and kidney problems; infertility is also another challenge caused by high intake of alcohol and smoking. 


8.Increase your high-fat diary diet

Diets rich in high-fat diary increase fertility and chances to get pregnant fast. Studies have also shown that low-fat diary diets delays the chances of getting pregnant.
